Out of the way, but worthy
Montreal Dinning
Out of the way, but worth the travel by car or public transport:
Braseiro, 8261 St. Laurent – Portuguese with the necessarily amazing grilled chicken platters, mussels and calamari! Reservations a must, it was recently given rave reviews in the Montreal newspaper.
Basi, 77 Shamrock – Neighbouring the Jean-Talon Market, this is a classy modern Italian restaurant with a terrasse to die for with flowing curtains and big pillows, but relatively cheap, delicious dishes (and free focaccia appetizer!) (website)
India Beau Village, 752 Jarry W. – Extremely tasty Indian food for the lowest price, most likely the best in Montreal. (website)
